THE DESIGN PROCESS
Anybody can have a beautiful home, no matter what their budget. However, having the creative vision and time to trawl the internet or trudge from shop to shop co-ordinating paints, wallcoverings, fabrics, flooring, lighting and furniture as well as organising tradespeople may be a daunting prospect. My experience of doing exactly this allows me to offer advice on specific areas of your home, whether it involves working on the spatial planning of a particular room, preparing a complete scheme, advising on general redecoration or helping with fabric choices.
I will listen to your ideas and interpret your aspirations to establish what will work best for you and the way you live, whilst reflecting your own sense of style and improving your quality of life with a scheme that is practical, comfortable, welcoming and beautiful. I don't have a "house style", instead I prefer to listen to my clients' ideas and work with a style that they feel comfortable with.
The design process begins with a free home consultation. I will visit your home in order to get a feel for the space and a thorough understanding of your lifestyle, tastes and design preferences. I will then conduct a full site survey where I will take measurements and photographs in order to consider spatial planning in order to achieve the best use of the space and furniture layouts. We will discuss colour, floor finishes, window treatments, furniture requirements, elements to stay or to be replaced and your ultimate objectives as to what you want to achieve within your budget.
I will put together a comprehensive Design Brief for your approval and then return to present my ideas to you in the form of a mood board. This will help you to begin to visualise how your room might look and encourage your comments on my ideas. We can then look at colours and fabrics in more detail in order to evolve the scheme.
Once you are completely happy with the design, I will either help you bring the various elements together within your budget or oversee the project management for you – whichever you prefer and feel most comfortable with. The most important thing is that you are delighted with the end result.
